Drone Assessment and Response Tactics (PER-362)

Course Description
The Drone Assessment and Response Tactics (DART), Mobile course is available as an in-person or virtual-training format course. The course is hosted at any qualifying emergency personnel agency or organization in the US by New Mexico Tech (NMT) Energetic Materials Research and Testing Center (EMRTC) instructors.

The DART, Mobile course provides emergency personnel with the knowledge and skills necessary to detect, identify, track, assess, respond, and report Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) activity. Participants are presented with information on the current UAS criminal and terrorist threat, analog and electronic UAS detection techniques, and response tactics to address this threat.

Course Objectives
Describe First Responders challenges related to Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).
Explain the actions outlined in the UAS Response Model to assess, categorize, and respond to UAS incidents.
Differentiate between visual, auditory, and electronic methods used to detect UAS and identify activity.
Recognize analog methods and electronic technologies utilized to track and assess UAS activity.
Identify response and reporting actions of unsafe or suspicious UAS activity.
Identify planning and preparation activities to prevent UAS incidents at critical infrastructure and special events.
Apply UAS threat planning and response strategies in a table-top exercise (TTX).
